Diego Velázquez, Baroque Revolutionist
Diego Velazquez
Diego Velázquez (1599-1660) was a 17th-century Spanish court painter. He was successful as a painter with his excellent painting skills. However, he is not satisfied with it, and he studies the Caravaggio style of painting, and creates a new style called "bodygon," which deals with daily life centered on still life. In his old age, under the influence of Titian and Rubens, he drew a picture that showed a dramatic effect with a strong contrast of light on an exact drawing object. Her representative work, "Maidens," is considered one of the best works in art history as a work that reflects philosophical thinking through paintings.
