John William Godward

John William Godward (1861-1922) was an English neoclassical painter. It beautifully depicts women in ancient costumes against the backdrop of classical architecture. The women that appear in the painting have these universal emotions and have monumental, marble-like features that resemble Greek sculptures across the ages.
